AnimeBoruto: Two Blue Vortex

Alright, I’m Convinced Naruto’s New Mangekyo Sharingan Will Be the Most Powerful Yet

Warning: SPOILERS for Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter #20

Almost two years after awakening in chapter #80 of Boruto: Naruto’s Next Generations, fans finally get to see the debut of Sarada Uchiha using her Mangekyo Sharingan. Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter #20 continues the battle against Ryu, where the situation takes a dark turn after Yodo is mortally injured. Yet, Yodo succeeded in motivating Sarada to unleash the power hidden within her, changing the game after using her Mangekyo Sharingan for the first time, which could be the strongest one in Naruto’s franchise so far.

After using her Mangyeko Sharingan, Sarada’s technique is revealed to work similarly to a black hole capable of attracting only Ryu’s iron sand. This not only allowed her to easily free Mitsuki and Araya, who were taken as hostages by the Divine Tree, but also confirmed that Sarada has more control over her technique than fans could have expected. This way, Sarada’s Mangyeko Sharingan hints that she wields the potential to surpass her father, Sasuke, and the rest of the Uchiha Clan.

Sarada’s Technique Proves Her Mangekyo Sharingan Could Be The Strongest in Naruto’s Franchise

Sarada Needs To Become Stronger To Reach Boruto’s Level

Sarada’s Mangekyo Sharingan not only has a distinctive shape like the sun, but her technique resembles Obito Uchiha’s Kamui only that, instead of creating a whole dimension, she can accelerate everything towards a small point similar to how a black hole works. Because of this, as Kamui was one of the most useful and powerful abilities of a Uchiha, Sarada’s new technique opens the door to creating a really versatile and dynamic fighting style as she can manipulate space-time and pinpoint the things that she can attract with her ability.

Additionally, it has already been confirmed that Sarada’s Mangekyo Sharingan is different from the rest featured in Naruto’s franchise since, unlike the rest of the Uchihas, she didn’t awaken her power out of hatred but out of love and without losing anyone. This is tied to what the Second Hokage Tobirama said about the Uchihas in chapter #619 of Naruto, that the Sharingan are the “eyes that reflect the heart”, and it could set up Sarada to be stronger than her predecessors for the sake of reaching Boruto’s level and being able to challenge the Divine Trees.

When an Uchiha writhes in agony over the loss of a great love or from disappointment in themselves, the unique chakra is released in their brain and reacts with the optic nerve. Changes appear in that person’s eyes. This phenomenon is called the Sharingan—eyes that reflect the heart. – Tobirama Uchiha.

This aspect has also been reinforced in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter #20—which is titled “Because of Love”—since the reason for Sarada to use her Mangekyo Sharingan was to protect Boruto. Furthermore, as the daughter of Sasuke, the last reincarnation of Indra and who managed to awaken the Rinnegan, she has the potential to awaken an even greater power, since Boruto’s story showcases the growth of the new generation of ninjas and the current developments of the Divine Trees are all about love against instinct.

Sarada Might Not Experience the Limitations that Come Along with the Mangekyo Sharingan

Sarada Also Shared Sakura’s Genes

Likewise, Sarada may not share the limitations that a Mangekyo Sharingan awakened by hatred has, since by being awakened by love her eyes could not overload and get damaged, causing her blindness. In Obito’s case, it was never confirmed why he didn’t lose his eyesight from the Mangekyo Sharingan, but it was always theorized that the reason lay in Hashirama’s cells, which have great healing abilities.

The Mangekyo Sharingan is one of the most powerful abilities in Boruto, and Sarada just unlocked hers in a breathtaking scene.

However, Sarada has the benefit of also counting on Sakura’s genes, so she could train with her mom to awaken the Byakugo seal and heal her eyes. Moreover, having a Byakugo seal would make Sarada a more dangerous ninja, since she could heal herself and her allies during battle. Nevertheless, Sarada’s Mangekyo Sharingan is the next step in finding out why she is immune to Eida’s omnipotence and achieving the strength she needs for her dream of being Hokage.
