New Witch Watch Trailer Sets Up Anime’s Next Big Magical Girl Hit

Witch Witch is the latest Shonen Jump anime, based on the manga by Kenta Shinohara of Sket Dance and Astra Lost in Space fame. The series follows Morihito Otogi, an ogre who must protect his childhood friend, Nico Wakatsuki the witch, from a tragedy prophesied to befall her, although Nico is far more concerned with breaking through Morihito’s obliviousness so the two can finally become a couple.

Witch Witch isn’t the most popular Shonen Jump manga right now, but its anime has all the makings to change that. Witch Watch getting an anime is the perfect chance for a wider audience to finally recognize the incredible charm of its cast and overall writing, and sure enough, Witch Watch’s latest trailer makes it clear that the anime will do a perfect job of bringing it to life. It’s easily set to be one of the best anime of the spring 2025 anime season, and there’s never been more reason to be excited.

Witch Watch’s Latest Trailer Is The Best Look At The Anime Yet

Why Witch Watch’s Latest Trailer Is So Good

Bibury Animation Studios has released a new trailer for Witch Watch in celebration of its premiere only being two weeks away, and sure enough, it’s a sight to behold. Not only does the art and animation perfectly complement the magical and comedic nature of the story, but the general direction also does a great job of capturing the manga with the voice acting and general shot composition, as well. Bibury Animation Studios is already doing an incredible job with the Witch Watch anime if its latest trailer is any indication, and the finished product will surely be even better.

The fact that Bibury Animation Studios is putting as much effort into Witch Watch as they are is even more reason to be excited. Witch Watch is the first time Bibury Animation Studios will be working on an anime for two consecutive cours, with most of their other projects being single-season shows at best, so the amount of stock being put into the Witch Watch anime makes it clear that it’s an anime that will be worth watching. The hype around Witch Watch can’t be ignored, and just from the trailers, it’s perfectly primed to live up to it all.

Why Witch Watch Could Be 2025’s Sleeper Hit

Witch Watch Needs To Be On Everyone’s Watchlist

Every trailer for Witch Watch has done a great job of selling the series, and it’s one that everyone should see. Not only is the comedy always great, whether it’s making one pop culture reference after another or just making an utterly bizarre joke, but the strong character writing always highlights the incredible strength of its cast, especially when it comes to the slow, yet engaging romance between Morihito and Nico. Witch Watch’s great writing has made it one of Shonen Jump’s most underrated rom-coms for years, and the anime is poised to finally give it the respect it deserves.

What’s also worth noting is the history of its creator, Kenta Shinohara. Shinohara’s previous works, 2007’s Sket Dance and 2016’s Astra Lost in Space, both became hits because of how well they combined stellar comedy with serious drama, and with the cult statuses both stories have maintained over the years, anyone who liked Sket Dance and Astra Lost in Space should watch Witch Watch if they’re looking for the same sort of great writing. All in all, Witch Watch is one of the biggest anime to watch in 2025, and hopefully, it will more than live up to the hype.
