Star Wars has at long last provided some context as to when Luke Skywalker’s famed training remote was created, doing so in the children’s show Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures.

In Young Jedi Adventures season 2, episode 12 “Unmasked,” Kai Brightstar and his best friend, Prince Cyrus, train with the very same devices during the High Republic era, a few hundred years before A New Hope. During this training, these remotes are designated as “new.”

As it turns out, then, these remotes do have quite a long history in Star Wars, as Young Jedi Adventures has now indicated.
