One of the popular reality dating shows on Hulu has returned for a new season. Farmer Wants a Wife combines the typical reality dating show with a bit of a rural flare as several bachelor farmers are matched with a group of hopeful women to see if any of them can find an ideal match and start a life together on the range.

While the series doesn’t offer much that would attract those who are not typically fans of the reality dating genre, those who cannot get enough of The Bachelor and other shows of the kind will have a fun time with this new take on the old formula. The bachelors are entertaining people with their own interesting stories while it is a lot of fun seeing the women being introduced to the farm life.

A new Netflix animated series has landed, and it gives fantasy fans an exciting new world to explore. Based on the Wereworld novels by author Curtis Jobling, the British series takes place in a land ruled by werelords where the werewolves once reigned supreme until they were wiped out by the Lionlords. The story focuses on 16-year-old Drew Ferran who comes to learn that he is the last in a long lineage of werewolves, making him a threat to the powerful and tyrannical ruler of the lands.

With different factions, a promised king returning, and plenty of magical elements, Wolf King could become a surprise hit on Netflix for fantasy fans. While the animation is not quite as high-budget as some of the other series on the platform, the story is an entertaining genre ride with some terrific world-building.

A new thriller series from South Korea presents a dark take on the typical medical drama. Hyper Knife stars Park Eun-bin as Jung Se-ok, a brilliant surgeon who has become disgraced and barred from holding a medical license. Using her skills, she operates as a shadow doctor, performing illegal medical procedures. However, as she struggles with the ethics of her work, she crosses paths once again with her mentor, reopening old wounds and putting them both on an intense collision course.

The series blends a lot of interesting elements as it is sometimes an intense medical drama, sometimes a gripping crime thriller, and sometimes it delves into the complex relationships of the main characters. Impressively, the series is able to balance all these aspects along with its darker tone to make something completely different and compelling for audiences to check out.

Release Date

Cast

  • Headshot Of David Mitchell
  • Headshot Of Anna Maxwell Martin

The latest detective series on BritBox offers a more humorous take on the genre than fans might be expecting. Ludwig stars David Mitchell as John, a neurotic and withdrawn puzzle maker with an identical twin brother who is a police officer. When his brother goes missing and his wife suspects a deeper conspiracy at work, she convinces John to pose as his brother and infiltrate the police department to find out more.

Similar to the hit detective comedy Monk, it is a lot of fun seeing a character who has seemingly no business being in with world of crime suddenly forced to solve murders. It is also great fun to see John’s skills with puzzles proving to be an asset in his new position. It makes for a funny and lighter take on the British crime series compared to some of BritBox’s more dour offerings in the genre.

A wild true-crime story gets a limited series adaptation in Good American Family. Based on a real case, Ellen Pompeo stars in the series as Kristine Barnett, a suburban family woman who, along with her husband Michael (Mark Duplass), seeks to adopt a young girl named Natalia Grace who is said to be a 7-year-old child with dwarfism. However, not long after adopting Natalia, Kristine begins to have concerns about where this child is really who she claims to be.

While the premise might sound very familiar to the horror movie Orphan, the real-life case actually addressed those similarities in the digging up of the actual truth behind what was going on. The series goes for a somewhat heightened reality in trying to make sense of the bewildering case, sometimes veering into the melodramatic, but it makes for a wild ride that has to be seen to be believed.

Another true-crime thriller series has arrived with another shocking case that you might not have heard about. Happy Face’s cast is led by Annaleigh Ashford as Melissa Moore, a young woman living her seemingly normal life while hiding the secret that her father is serial killer Keith Jesperson, aka the “Happy Face killer” (Dennis Quaid). The truth comes out when Jesperson reveals that he is responsible for a murder that the police have not discovered, but he will only discuss the details with his daughter in person.

The series blends fact and fiction in a gripping way as it takes a unique perspective on a story like this. Rather than focusing on the killer himself, it makes for a riveting and emotional journey to follow someone connected to this man and try to have her own life separate from his crimes.

With the success of movies like Knives Out and shows like Only Murders in the Building, murder mystery stories with a comedic twist seem to be a popular choice on streaming these days. Netflix has the latest entry into this subgenre while also picking a very exciting setting for its story. The Residence stars Uzo Aduba as Cordelia Cupp, a consulting detective who is brought in to investigate a death that has occurred at the White House.

Taking cues from Gosford Park, the series takes a look at the prominent people in power as well as the serving staff who are there to see it all even if they sometimes go unnoticed. The Residence cast is a star-studded affair with Giancarlo Esposito, Randall Park, and Jason Lee as part of the fun ensemble. However, Aduba steals the show as the eccentric detective, making it a fun and engaging mystery from beginning to end.

March 20 marked what is sure to be one of the most anticipated finales of the year as the second season of Severance comes to an end. Severance tells the story of employees at the mysterious organization Lumon Industries who undergo a procedure separating their work mind from their off-work mind. However, their “innies” begin to question their existence outside of their office walls.

Severance season 2 picked up following the gripping cliffhanger of the first season and deals with the aftermath of the “innies” briefly escaping into the outer world. The second season subverted expectations in many ways and delivered some key answers, while also expanding the mystery in some exciting ways. The finale leaves the audience with more surprises and thrills, but hopefully, it will not be as long of a wait for Severance season 3 to arrive.

One of the most popular shows on television can now be streamed in its entirety. Yellowstone was the epic modern Western that told the story of the Dutton family of the 21st century, led by John Dutton (Kevin Costner). With the expansive Montana ranch in their family for generations (leading back to the events of the prequel series 1883), John is determined to do whatever it takes to ensure that the land stays with his family.

Yellowstone came to an end in December 2024 with a lot of controversy surrounding its final episodes. However, with the episodes only airing on the Paramount network, there were a lot of fans who didn’t get to see how the story ended. Now, not only are the final episodes available to stream on Peacock, but they join the rest of the series so Yellowstone can now be enjoyed in its entirety.
