AnimeSolo Leveling

10 Strongest Villains In Solo Leveling, Ranked

Solo Leveling is a top-tier anime series with some of the best villains around, but it can be hard to tell which is the strongest. Some of the villains’ strengths are easy to see from the beginning. Villains in the Demon Castle are placed on different floors based on their power level. The final boss of the 50th floor is stronger than the final boss of the 25th floor, for example.

That’s about the only time Solo Leveling’s power scaling is straightforward. As Jinwoo levels up, he begins to handle his new enemies with an increasing level of ease, but it isn’t always like that. He struggles with some enemies more than others, and it can be hard to tell who is truly stronger. Regardless, there are some villains that are so strong in the series, there’s no wondering where they fit in the overall ranking.

10

Blood-Red Commander Igris

Jinwoo’s Future Right-Hand Shadow

Blood-Red Commander Igris was part of one of the best fights in Solo Leveling’s first season. He was the final boss of the first season, and his fight with Jinwoo proved why. He was insanely strong, smart enough to read Jinwoo’s moves, and one of the few characters in the entire series who made Jinwoo nervous. If Jinwoo didn’t have an absurd level of determination, Igris would have killed him without a second thought.

Igris is the first major Shadow that was added to Jinwoo’s growing Shadow Army. He’s been leveling up with his master, but before he fought alongside Jinwoo, he was a Commander who put Jinwoo to the test. Their fight is amazing because of how chaotic it is. Both characters fly across the screen, showing just how great the fights in the series can be.

9

Kargalgan

One Of The Strongest Magic Users In The Series

One of the reasons that Solo Leveling is so amazing is because the series is more than willing to post its best fights online for anyone to check out. Jinwoo’s amazing fight against Kargalgan is a great example, as Crunchyroll posted the entire fight on their official YouTube channel totally for free. The complete fight is more than 7 minutes long, and everyone wishes that it was longer.

Solo Leveling is one of the best edgy anime series ever. Jinwoo hiding his strength only to reveal it at the last second is about as edgy as it gets, and Solo Leveling nails this aspect perfectly. When Jinwoo steps out to fight Kargalgan, nobody can understand why. In an instant, he changes the flow of the battle, saving his fellow Hunters and dominating Kargalgan like only he can.

8

Baruka (Barca)

Jinwoo Couldn’t Handle Him Alone

Baruka is one of the most entertaining villains in Solo Leveling. He has more charisma than most other Hunters and makes the Red Gate Arc one of the most thrilling in Solo Leveling. He’s so strong that even Jinwoo recognizes that he can’t take Baruka alone. He not only needs Igris to fight alongside him, but even baits Kim Chul into attacking him just so he can make a Shadow out of the A-Ranker, aiding Jinwoo in the fight further.

It’s Official! Solo Leveling Just Beat Out One Piece to Take a Top Crunchyroll Record

Solo Leveling is anime’s hottest new title, and the series just stole an impressive record set by the industry’s number one shonen.

Baruka fights with a giant smile across his face, showing just how confident the leader of the Ice Elves is. Their fight is amazing because of how much of a threat Baruka really is. The only disappointing part is that Jinwoo couldn’t turn him into a Shadow, making Baruka the only character in the series Jinwoo failed to add to his army.

7

Hwang Dongsoo

An S-Rank Hunter Turned Powerful Shadow

It’s hard to judge how strong Hwang Dongsoo really is. He’s been dominated in every fight he’s been a part of, but most of the Hunters in the series truly fear his overwhelming strength. He’s an S-Rank Hunter living in Korea, so he could probably be compared to a lot of the other normal S-Rank Hunters in the series. He’s strong enough to take Baek Yoonho head-on outside the Red Gate, and if it wasn’t for Woo Jinchul, they would’ve done some damage.

By the time Hwang Dongsoo finally meets Jinwoo in person, Jinwoo has become too strong for him. Dongsoo smartly forces his guild master into a fight with Jinwoo, but Jinwoo is too strong for him too. Jinwoo then finally kills Dongsoo, adding him to his Shadow Army. Shadows are fairly similar in strength to their living counterparts, and Greed is one of the strongest Shadows in Solo Leveling.

6

Kandiaru (The Architect)

He Gave Jinwoo His Powers And He Took Them Away In Their Fight

The Architect is the creator of The System, the tool that Jinwoo uses to get stronger. The System was created by The Architect for Ashborn’s reincarnation. He wanted Ashborn to return to the Earth, and he realized that he would need a strong enough human to house the Shadow Monarch’s body. Kandiaru, the Architect, is a powerful mage who has lived for a very long time. He controls the God Statues expertly, showing off his power in the first few episodes of the series.

He’s able to take away Jinwoo’s Shadows during their fight, showing just how powerful and manipulative he is. The God Statues he controls are also strong enough to obliterate most B-Rank Hunters without a second thought, and give A-Rank Hunters an incredibly hard time. Kandiaru’s mystique and magical prowess are two reasons why he ranks so highly as one of the strongest villains in Solo Leveling.

5

The Ant King

He Made The Strongest S-Rank Hunters Look Like A Joke

The Ant King might be the most terrifying villain in Solo Leveling for one simple reason — he’s death incarnate. He moves faster than the strongest S-Rank Hunters can even process, and he is strong enough to make the strongest Hunter in all of Japan look like a joke. He decimates Goto Ryuji before he can even process what happened. If it wasn’t for Jinwoo using Shadow Exchange at the last second, the Ant King would have obliterated Korea’s strongest Hunters too.

The Ant King is one of the strongest villains in the series from the second he enters it, and he grows even stronger as Jinwoo’s Shadow. His fight with Jinwoo might be the best fight in all of Solo Leveling for a few reasons, and one of them is certainly how horrifyingly strong the Ant King truly is.

4

The Giants

So Strong Even An S-Rank Hunter’s Barrier Magic Was Nothing To Them

The Giants in Solo Leveling are the first sign that humanity is in deep trouble. Up until this point in the series, humanity has been able to handle everything that comes from the Gates with relative ease. Other than Kamish, a villain before Jinwoo’s time, and the Ant King, there haven’t been too many world-shattering threats to Jinwoo and his fellow Hunters. The Giants were the heralds that humanity’s peace was coming to an end.

Legia, the Monarch of the Beginning, is the King of the Giants. He’s one of the first Monarchs Jinwoo meets in the series, and his Giants are every bit as terrifying as he is. The Giants are so strong that Yuri Orloff, the strongest barrier magic user in the series, is no match for them. When they descend upon Tokyo, they take millions of Japanese people with them in no time at all.

3

The Titans

The Titans Are Said To Be As Strong As The Rulers

The Titans are one of the last villains in Solo Leveling. After Jinwoo asks the Rulers to use the Cup of Reincarnation, he rewinds time by 10 years and creates a new timeline. In the previous timeline, the Titans went to the Ruler’s and Monarch’s home world, looking for powerful creatures to consume. Since Jinwoo killed all the Monarchs in his new timeline, they head to Earth instead.

Jinwoo and his Shadow Army make quick work of the Titans, but that doesn’t mean that they were weak. The Rulers made sure Jinwoo knew that the Titans were strong enough to fight the Rulers on even footing, and the Rulers were barely strong enough to fend off the Monarchs. Unfortunately for the Titans, by the time they made their way to Jinwoo, he was so absurdly strong that they never had a chance.

2

The Monarchs

Each Monarch Is Significantly Stronger Than Every Other Villain

It is pretty hard to tell which of the Monarchs is the strongest, bar the Shadow Monarch and the Monarch of Destruction. Regardless of which Monarch is the strongest, each of them is significantly stronger than any other villain in the series. There are seven Monarchs in Solo Leveling, bar Jinwoo, Ashborn, and Antares. They each represent a different aspect, from the Plague to Ice, and each packs a serious punch every time they’re on-screen.

After Toppling One Piece, Solo Leveling Just Usurped One of Chainsaw Man’s Top Records

Solo Leveling is anime’s number one series right now and its rapid approach to topping Chainsaw Man’s first episode reviews proves it.

The Monarchs are significantly stronger than even Nation-Level Hunters like Thomas Andre and S-Rank Hunters like Lennart Niermann. The Monarch of Frost, Sillad, is even strong enough to assassinate Go Gunhee without much effort. The Monarchs are pure evil. They’re only around to destroy the Earth and claim its latent magical ability for themselves. If Jinwoo hadn’t ascended to become the Second Shadow Monarch, there would have been nobody around to stop them.

1

Antares

The King Of Dragons And The Monarch Of Destruction

Antares is the final villain of Solo Leveling and the strongest by quite a margin. He’s the Monarch of Destruction and the King of Dragons. He has some of the strongest abilities in the series, including Dragon’s Fear — the ability to make everyone who is weaker than him tremble in fear. He’s also one of the few characters in the series that can kill Jinwoo’s Shadows for good, stopping Jinwoo’s strongest ability in its tracks.

The Rulers were the group to finally kill Antares, proving that even Jinwoo, with all of his levels he’d acquired, was no match for the Monarch of Destruction.
