But the Dark Knight managed to prove he’s the best of the best that the publisher has to offer with three words that emphasize his perseverance, his willpower, and his determination.

2017’s Batman #20 by Tom King, with art by David Finch, is the conclusion of the I Am Bane story arc. As the issue opens, Bane says that this fight will be the last between them, punching Batman onto the ground.
But Batman slowly rises, repeating each threat he’s heard over the years and telling Bane he’s heard them all for years, finishing with “I’m still here.” These three words prove that Batman’s perseverance is what makes him one of DC’s greatest heroes, because no matter what Gotham throws at him, he’s still here.

His drive for a better Gotham helps him get back up each time, and his resolve to see that dream through gives him all the strength he needs to finish the fight, no matter the cost.
