Don’t Sleep On Epic Quality Gear For Yasuke

While it might seem like Legendary gear in Assassin’s Creed Shadows is the most important thing to create the best build, there’s one legendary item with an engraving that makes Epic and lower quality gear OP. The Oni’s Fury Amulet/Trinket has a build-defining engraving that buffs both Naoe and Yasuke for each piece of non-legendary gear they have equipped. This engraving incentivizes players to ignore all those shiny Legendaries and start looking at some of the amazing Epic gear they pick up along the way.
Oni’s Fury is one of the many Legendary Amulets/Trinkets in AC Shadows that you’ll come across, and it exists as both a Trinket for Naoe and an amulet for Yasuke. While Naoe can use this trinket as effectively as Yasuke, Yasuke is designed as a damage dealer, making the +15% damage per non-legendary gear equipped especially powerful for him. Yasuke is rewarded the Oni’s Fury Amulet for killing The Noble Onryo (Shinbakufu) target, and once you get it you won’t have to worry about tracking down legendaries anymore.

Why Epic Gear Is Better For Yasuke With The Oni’s Fury Amulet
Go For Purple Gear To Max Out Yasuke’s Damage
With the Oni’s Fury Amulet equipped, Yasuke gets a +15% damage buff for each piece of non-legendary gear equipped. This includes his weapons, armor, and helmet, as well as the amulet slot itself. Typically, when you collect a legendary item in AC Shadows, its associated engraving becomes available at the forge to slot on other weapons. That isn’t the case with Oni’s Fury – you’ll have to advance Yasuke’s storyline much further to unlock the engraving. However, when you do unlock it, you can engrave an Epic-quality item with the non-legendary effect to increase damage by an additional +15%.

Epic gear is found all over AC Shadows during the main campaign and side quests, and it’s typically just as powerful as legendary equipment, sometimes even more so. I would hang on to any Epic Yasuke gear you grab along the way, just in case you decide this strategy might be the one for you. We’re talking about a possible +75% increase to damage once you’ve unlocked the Oni’s Fury engraving.
The trinket version of Oni’s Fury for Naoe is found in a legendary chest in the Teratsutsuki Den in Izumi Settsu.
That massive damage increase is hard to pass up, especially for Yasuke, who already has some incredible damage buffs within his skill trees. Epic gear can be upgraded and engraved just the same as Legendary, so as long as you have the effect active, you can tweak your build however you see fit. You’ll end up dealing substantially more damage with lower-quality items, assuming you have all Epic or lower equipped.
Best Way To Use Oni’s Fury In AC Shadows
Buy Some Nice Epics For Yasuke & Advance The Main Storyline
The good thing about this approach to Yasuke is that you don’t have to go on some meandering adventure to get some decent gear. Any gear vendor will have plenty of Epic-quality items for Yasuke to choose from, and there are multiple vendors in each major region. In my experience, getting more Mon was not an issue, and I was able to purchase a Kanabo that dealt more damage than any other legendary options I had available.
The Oni’s Fury strategy is viable throughout the entire game (after you have the amulet, of course), and it makes playing with Yasuke a lot more fun.
Legendary gear is great, but after playing with this strategy, it’s clear how limiting it can be to only focus on getting the best legendary items in the game. You definitely want to advance through the main story to unlock the associated engraving, as you’ll get an extra 15% damage by replacing the Oni’s Fury amulet itself with an Epic item slotted with the non-legendary buff.

The Oni’s Fury strategy is viable throughout the entire game (after you have the amulet, of course), and it makes playing with Yasuke a lot more fun. You won’t feel as limited in terms of equipment options, and you will actually start to use gear vendors and take an interest in what’s in stock. Yasuke is a combat-focused character who can deal massive damage with the Oni’s Fury Amulet in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and you shouldn’t sleep on Epic gear for Yasuke after you pick it up.
