Here’s everything you need to know about why we’re still waiting for the next chapter of this beloved series.
P-Valley Season 3 Was Delayed By The 2023 Writer & Actor Strikes
The Show Resumed Production In April 2024
The production of P-Valley season 3 faced significant delays due to the 2023 Writers Guild of America (WGA) and Screen Actors Guild (SAG) strikes. P-Valley‘s creator and showrunner Katori Hall addressed these disruptions during an interview with Deadline. Her message was simple: “We will not be filming until a fair deal is reached.“
Hall went on to highlight the important roles that behind-the-scenes creatives like writers and directors have in the entertainment industry at large and specifically on her show. She detailed that while she is P-Valley’s showrunner, she is also a member of the DGA and wanted to support her fellow directors by not calling action until the strikes were resolved. Regarding the writer’s and director’s strike, Hall said:
Like many of my fellow showrunners, I feel as though my writing and producing duties are inextricably linked. I am also a member of the DGA whose AMPTP contract begins negotiations today. Overlapping issues abound and we shall see how these stories end. As a writer I strike with a sense of radical dignity — that our work must be valued for the magic it is.”
But P-Valley fans can rejoice because the show is back on track following the strike resolution, with filming for season 3 beginning in April 2024. However, a release date for P-Valley season 3 has yet to be announced.
