One Comic Legend Just Pitched the Bat-Family Crossover Our Dreams, But Will It Happen?
Artist Dan Parent shared his Archie x Batman crossover sketches from this year’s Toronto Comic Con – and though the two franchises have crossed over before, his work immediately got the fan base riled up for a future visit to Riverdale by the Caped Crusader, or perhaps, like in his drawings, a story in which the beloved Archie cast must suit up to serve as Gotham’s protectors.
Parent shared his sketches on Instagram, including one notable illustration in which he drew Archie and Betty as fan-favorite DC couple Tim Drake and Stephanie Brown, with him in his role as Robin, and her in her iconic Spoiler costume.
Fans on social media were quick to call for a crossover, specifically one illustrated by Dan Parent, bringing the beloved Archie comics characters and the Bat-Family together. Now, the question is whether this potentially great series could actually become a reality at some point in the future.

It goes without saying that Dan Parent is the preeminent writer and artist for Archie Comics with a visual and storytelling style that is simultaneously nostalgic and contemporary. It is no surprise, then, that so many fans seek his table at conventions for a chance to buy a commission. Following this year’s Toronto ComicCon, Parent posted some commissioned pieces he drew, which will excite fans of both Archie and Bat-Family – and many think should earn him the opportunity to make this concept art a reality.

Archie and the gang are no strangers to comic book crossovers, having appeared in many over the decades, including crossing over with the DC Universe. I 2018, DC and Archie joined forces for Harley & Ivy Meet Betty & Veronica – written by Marc Andreyko, with art by Paul Dini, and Laura Braga – a six-issue miniseries which featured Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy switching bodies with perennial Archie love interests Betty Cooper and Veronica Lodge. The series was well-received by fans of both iconic sets of characters, proving there is an appetite for cross-genre crossovers of this kind.

Jay & Silent Bob Come To Riverdale
Another interrcompany crossover between DC and Archie Comics was Archie Meets Batman ‘66, which Dan Parent actually did get to do some work on, another point toward the argument that he should be given a more substantial Bat-Family/Archie Gang crossover to work on. Though it is not a DC crossover, Archie’s next mash-up will instead be in Kevin Smith Presents: Archie Meets Jay & Silent Bob, coming from Kevin Smith’s Secret Stash Press imprint from Dark Horse Comics this summer. In any case, it is clear many fans want more Archie meets Batman in the future.
