All Romance Options In Assassin’s Creed Shadows (& How To Romance Them)

Both playable characters, Naoe and Yasuke, have multiple opportunities to romance other NPCs you meet on your journey through Japan in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The series has made the bold move to have two protagonists with different playing styles for the first time, but many of the features return. One is the option to romance other characters you meet in quests.

While romancing has been a part of the Assassin’s Creed series for some time, it only plays a minor role and can easily be missed if you actively try to do it. In total, there are seven characters that you can attempt to romance between Naoe and Yasuke. To romance other characters, you must select certain dialogue when conversing with them. Here are all the characters you can romance in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. It’s worth remembering that if you opt to play AC Shadows‘ Canon Mode, you’ll be unable to romance anyone.

Gennoji – First Romance Opportunity For Naoe

Naoe has three different options for romantic characters that she encounters, and the first one can’t be missed as you face off against Gennoji in AC Shadows the Missing Missive quest. They will ultimately connect, and Naoe can romance the warrior if you select the right dialogue options across three missions.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows has several distinct ending sequences, and you need to complete four different quest lines to access everything.

Your next meeting with him in the Sake and Swords quest will change the relationship if you select the lines “Depends what you’re offering“ and “Show me, Thief“ when they appear as options. In Honor Among Thieves, you should end the conversation with “I’m Keeping It Then.” While they will have further missions together, the last one with a required dialogue is the Stolen Hearts quest. At the start of your mission, you should say, “I’m here for you.” Before ending the quest, “I’d like to embrace you.” This leads to the two characters embracing.

Katsuhime – Romance Or Recruit

Another potential suitor for Naoe is Katshuime in AC Shadows, who is the only female that she has the potential to romance. Katshuime has one of the longest quest paths of potential romances in Assassin’s Creed Shadows and can also be recruited. Katsuhime is similar to Naoe in several ways, and you first cross paths during Showdown in Sakamoto. Right at the end of this opening part of the quest line, you need to select the line “I like your Teppo.”

There are some major differences between Naoe and Yasuke in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and you should prepare for completely different experiences.

As they grow closer, the journey follows four more quests, starting with Letter From Katsuhime, where you must pick “It offers time with me.” This is followed by the line “I do enjoy your company“ in The Tales of Genin quest.

The next mission sees you recruit Katshuime in the Diary of Lady Rokkaku, which is also needed to romance her. This is done by saying “Yes. Join us.” This leads to the two embracing in The Jounin Pillow Book if you get Naoe to say, “Let’s find out.” and finally, “Yes. Forever.”

Koshire – A Third Option

The third and final option for Naoe to romance is also the easiest. Another fighter, Koshire, is injured during a quest, leading to the two quickly developing a connection.

Romancing Koshire only takes one quest rather than a line of them like many others. In the Lead Turns, there are five lines you need to see to have the two characters complete their romance. When you see the options to say, “You’re more than a blade to me,” “I’d like to spend more time with you,” “You must follow your heart,” or “Like me,” you should select each one to complete the romance between the two.

All Romance Options For Yasuke

Hori Hidimesa – A Short Romance

Yasuke has four different potential romances in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, with a vast mix of characters. The first you meet in the main story, Hori Hidimesa, and is also the shortest. You first meet him at the start of The Betrayer quest. It’s a relatively short quest where you only need to select one line to confirm the romance between them.

At the end of the quest, Yasuke and Hori Hidimesa will have a conversation when you need to pick the option “Meeting you was my reward.” This leads to a romantic scene between the two.

Lady Oichi – A Royal Romance

While nothing is fully romantically seen on screen between the two, Yasuke can also romance Lady Oichi. They are two very different types of characters, which leads to a different type of relationship between the two. To get the romantic ending between the two, you must select three conversation options and make a key decision in the story.

In the flashback quest, An Education, select the conversation option “Some company might be nice.” In The Wheel Unmasked quest, you need to choose to spare the targets at the end of the mission, or you will not be able to romance Lady Oichi. In the final two-part mission in the quest line, The Wheel Turns 1 + 2; you need to select three lines to have their romance ending. You need to pick “I miss your smile“ and “I am drawn to you.” This then leads to the final options, and if you pick “Let’s enjoy the moment,” the two get their brief happy ending.

Ibuki – A Forward Proposition

Ibuki is another character who takes on several quests before Yasuke can romance them. Non-binary Ibuki can also be recruited into the League by completing the same quest line. There are three quests in a row that you need to complete for Ibuki: Homecoming, Homecoming 2, and Homecoming 3. In each of these quests, you need to say the lines, “Your mind works in beautiful ways,” “You don’t have to be alone,” and “Let’s be together in another way.”

As opposed to some of the other relationship options, Yasuke is very forward with Ibuki in the final mission, Putting Down Roots. If you select the option with the heart next to it, “I want more than friendship,” it will lead to a romantic scene between the two.

Rin – Teaching Leads To Romance

The final romance option for Yasuke is Rin. She is drawn to Yasuke’s strength as he teaches her some of the fighting techniques he knows. This takes place in the quest Arrow Strike and gives you the first conversation, where you need to select “It wasn’t my archery you were testing.”
